Buona lettura

What makes us the head of Buffalo Bill ALIVE aboard a Zeppelin headed for Japan? Of course, brings his show on tour traveling Wild West Show. But what happened to the rest of his body? And, above all, its mission is as innocuous as it seems or is hiding something? Well we anticipate only one thing: that after a “domestic incident” Buffalo Bill can be found with his head severed from his body but fortunately his friends manage to save his life putting his head inside a jar filled with pork’s urine, whiskey and a particular chemical liquid called Number 415. With no body, Buffalo Bill relies on a steam robot driven by dwarf. So the first glance it would appear harmless the trip to Japan and with the specific intent to amuse the Japanese with his show, but it is not. Infact Buffalo Bill plans to kidnap Dr. Frankenstein’s creature held captive by the Shogun in the hope that by studying it we can find a way to reattach his head to the body. “You could ask to Dr. Victor Frankenstein how to” you can say, but this is not possible because it has disappeared under mysterious circumstances.

Only Joe R. Lansdale could write a novel as unpredictable and bizarre, mixing genres like no one else can do. Only he could bring together so many disparate characters emerged from the pen of the great popular writers, only he could handle this glittering carousel of adventures in which there is no limit to the imagination ever. And if you think the Tin Man Frank Baum or Verne’s Captain Nemo, or the monster of Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein can no longer surprises, you are wrong and mistaken.

The novel is dated 2001 but has been translated and brought to Italy only in 2008 and is published by Fanucci. It’s easily ordered from www.ibs.it.

Know that there is a sequel of this book published in America in 2006 with the title “Flaming London” which does not reveal anything except that travelers Zeppelin if the West will have to do with attacks similar to the Martians invading aliens of the “War of the Worlds “. Furthermore, increasing output in the U.S. is the third book in the series entitled “The Sky Done Ripped” but the date is not yet certain.

Happy reading
